This blog is part of a world journey to find out more about different attitudes towards music and what it can be. The part of this blog that I would consider to be the musicological aspect is that I also want to know the circumstances of how different music arises and becomes a common societal reference point for certain groups of people.
I literally mean world journey; I am leaving the US in late summer and will attempt to circumnavigate the globe.
Because I will be in the US until then, I am recording the bands that I find here. Each band that I put on this site has something that I haven’t seen before, or evokes a cultural mutation, purification, or distortion. I am as much interested in what the band means in a larger context as I am in the music itself.
